Race career to date:
- Hudson started racing at the tender age of 5 in mini motocross
- By the time he had turned 12 years old he was Junior South African
MX
champion
- One year later (13 years old) Hudson had progressed to the roads
and was Regional and South African 50cc road racing champion
- He then progressed to the South African GP 125 series and finished
in 4th place aged 15
- Hudson then spent 4 years in the Regional 250 cc races
- Kennaugh then progressed to bigger machinery and finished 8th in
the South African Supersport 600cc category aged 21
- The results really started to come in the following year when he
finished 3rd in the South African Supersport 600cc category aged 22
- Finally the biggest result in his career so far, 1st in South
African Superbike 1000cc aged 23
Hudson also competed in the GSX-R World Cup, where he came 2nd in
France 2003 in the one off race event. He also finished 2nd in
America in 2004 in the same one off race. Hudson wrapped up the GSX-R Cup
2005 championship leaving it to the very last round at Magny Cours.
While finishing off the GSX-R Cup,
Hudson
was offered a ride with the Moto - 1 Supersport team along side
Matthieu Lagrive for the final two rounds of the championship. He
competed at the famous Imola circuit and Magny Cours as well as
racing in the GSX-R Cup there.
For 2006
Hudson
made the decision to come to the
UK
to race in the highly competitive Metzeler National Superstock
Championship. Riding for the Carbon Can Company aboard an R1
provided by Raceways Yamaha, Kennaugh finished the championship in
eleventh place.
Now that he is familiar with the British circuits he has
decided to stay put in the UK and race for the Raceways
Yamaha team on the 2007 R1 once again in the Metzeler
National Superstock Championship. After a brief ride on
the Virgin Media Optoma Loans Yamaha Hudson returned to
Raceways to compete the later rounds of the Superstock
series. After a superb double win at Donington Park
Hudson finished third place in the championship with 154
points.
For 2008
Hudson raced in the British Supersport series on a
Yamaha YZF-R6 in the Raceways Yamaha team eventually
finishing 2nd in the championship
In 2009 Hudson has moved teams and is now racing for the
Linxcel-Seton Tuning Team again on a Yamaha YZF-R6 in
the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship
